Whenever I see anyone wearing patterned pants the voice of Ron Burgundy gets inside my head saying, “It’s the pleats.. it’s actually an optical illusion.. it’s the pattern on the pants.” It never fails me. However, I have actually found patterned pants that are both flattering and comfortable. Anthropologie is killing it with their spring arrivals and as an avid customer- I have never been happier. My wallet, on the other hand, disagrees with this statement whole-heartedly. Wanna take a stab at where my shoes are from? Yep, Dolce Vita from Target.. I may or may not have a problem. Since I’m branching out with patterns and colors I had to have a neutral top to play it safe and I’m loving this little bubble top. It looks likes its tucked in but the bottom actually has an elastic band so I just pulled the band up and then let the rest of the shirt fall where it may. How cute would this be for Sunday morning brunch?
As you all know I’m super picky about clothing but jean shorts are definitely a piece that I’m very particular about. They have to be the right length, fit, material, and wash. I’m also pretty fussy about how destroyed they are. I like a little bit of frayed hems but not too much as I want the option to dress them up or down. I have been searching since last summer (no joke) for the perfect pair and I would always come out empty handed. All of that changed a few weeks ago when I finally found a pair that fit ALL of my needs and more. They are the perfect wash (not too light or too dark) and they fit so well! I sized up a full size just because I don’t like the look of super tight denim shorts. They are SO comfortable – plenty of room to move around and with a high waist they are crazy flattering as well! Also featured is one of my all-time favorite pull over sweaters. It’s a much lighter material than normal sweaters so you can wear it year round.
Vitamins and supplements are a multi-billion dollar industry within the U.S. which comes as no surprise seeing as we are so much more health conscious today than we were twenty years ago. I try to take my vitamins daily and normally keep my biotin pills, fish oil pills, and multi-vitamins in stock. For all my runner friends, I was also an avid user of glucosamine pills when I was training for my marathon and yes, I noticed a huge difference in how my joints felt after my long runs. I first heard about these magical little vitamins in an online Vogue article and started to research them more. Ritual was founded by Kat Schneider who, at the time, was pregnant and turned her house upside down searching for vitamins/supplements that were completely free of dyes, flavorings, and other questionable ingredients so she decided to take it upon herself to make her very own. The vitamins include 9 ingredients (Vitamin K2, Vitamin D3, Vitamin B12, Boron, Iron, Vitamin E, Magnesium, Folate, and Omega-3) that most women lack because they can’t get it out of their diet alone. I also learned that most women can do without certain vitamins such as Calcium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and B Vitamins because almost nobody has any deficiency in these because we are able to get them from our daily diet. They also have a doctor on their team to back all of their claims up! On their website it includes where they source their ingredients, what each ingredient does, and studies done by doctors which support each and every ingredient.
So I’m now on my second month of taking them and I think the biggest difference I’ve noticed is my skin and energy level. My breakouts are now few and far between and if I ever do have a problem spot on my skin it now heals much quicker. I know most everyone can get into that afternoon slump during the work week but I started noticing after about two weeks of taking them that I wasn’t as tired or groggy in the afternoons. Which says a lot considering my wake-up time is 5:20 a.m. to make it to my usual 6 a.m. barre class. I normally have a tendency to reach for sugar-y snacks in the late afternoon but as of recently I haven’t felt the need to do that. It’s super convenient because instead of taking 3 or 4 vitamins per day like I used to – I can now just pop in two of these after breakfast and I’m good to go! I also feel like nowadays it’s so difficult to find a company that’s truthful about what they put in their products which is why I love Ritual and how transparent they are about what’s really inside their product. If you are wanting to find out more info or are interested in purchasing you can get them here.
Have I mentioned how much I love chambray? I almost feel like it’s become a neutral because of how versatile it is and can basically be worn any season. Plus most chambray pieces are super comfortable and I’m all about that. I love how this material has branched out into other forms of clothing besides button down blouses! There are now chambray rompers, shorts, and other types of tops such as this fabulous off the shoulder piece. Also known as a ‘mamacita’ top to me. Just about every Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life always has some sort of mural of a Mexican woman in a red & ruffle-y off the shoulder dress. So when ‘off the shoulder’ tops/dresses became a thing I would just call it a mamacita top or dress & it has stuck with me ever since. Laugh all you want but this description has always made the most sense to me. Plus how much cooler does ‘mamacita’ sound than ‘off the shoulder’? Am I right or am I right? I also love mixing all different types of textures so pairing this soft chambray top with the crisp material of linen was a match made in heaven. I paired this look with some nude wedges and a gold necklace. If you haven’t read my previous posts then I have to let you know I have a love affair with chambray paired with a bright red lip so I didn’t hold back on this one! Details on my outfit below!
